MOVIE REVIEW: FIGURINE ARAROMIRE

This is one of the best movies I have seen all year long.

The production, picture quality ,casting, imaging etc ................. was soo on point.

The storyline was just the height of it, it is a love triangle between 2 friends(ramsey nouah and kunle afolayan) and a girl (Tosin Sido), and how the disovery of a figurine (Araromire) changes their lives, I dont want to spoil it for you soo I am not goin to say much.

I have to say it has been a very long time that a movie; NIGERIAN MOVIE has given me so much suspense, drama and romance all wrapped up in one.

I really have to commend KUNLE AFOLAYAN for the movie it was definitely worth all the time and effort.

It is definitely a must see movie.

Stylin' & Profilin': Funke Fowler

So...each week we'll try to pick a rising [or risen] African celebrity/popular figure in Naija or elsewhere, and do a style profile on them - their style, what makes them unique, recent achievements, et cetera.
Suggestions are welcome for any icons which you would like to see profiled.

This week's Stylin' & Profilin' is on Funke Fowler.

(Pic courtesy bellanaija.com)
She is an epitome of sophistication and exudes class and elegance at each outing. Her style seems almost effortless and incorporates classic Hollywood.

She is the owner of Leila Fowler Lagos, one of Lagos' upscale boutiques check out their website: http://www.leilafowler.com/

It is Located in Victoria Island, the store is frequented by clients of all age ranges and social rankings, as it carries something for everyone...

The store reperesnts Funke's unique sense of style which you can definitely see from the decor to the clothes being sold.

Funke is definitely a force to be reckoned with in Nigeria's fashion industry so watch out...

"One nation bound in frEEEdom"...AT 49!

Happy Birthday to our beloved country Nigeria...a nation "bound in freedom, peace and unity" as she clocks 49 today!

Despite the "doom and gloom" feel of the current state of our country - security issues, political struggles, negative global reputation (419, "Yahoozee" etc), and the daily grumbling of the common Nigerian man - we still have much to be thankful for. No life-claiming natural disasters till date. No terrorist groups crashing into buildings or bomb threats. Besides, our country is growing in other ways - we are becoming better known for our fashion (everybody wears Ankara now, lol) and more fashion designers emerge from Naija by the day, our musicians/artists are doing really well in expanding their fan base to not just Nigeria, but other countries as well, and Nollywood is...well, its Nollywood!

And where there is life, there is hope...

So be thankful...and be festive today! Buy yourself a cupcake, splurge a little, celebrate your country's anniversary of independence one way or another! I know I will...

Have a happy independence day!

'REAL' Fashion Debuts at NYC Fashion Week

So as you guys probably know [or don't know], the tents were up at Bryant Park last week as it was New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week! Models, model-wannabes, fashionistas and fauxshionistas alike littered Manhattan's streets from event to event...

For any Real Housewives of Atlanta fans out there, it was certainly interesting to hear that two of our favorites, Sheree Whitfield and Dwight "The Divo" Eubanks (honorary housewife) would be showing at Fashion Week...well, most especially She by Sheree...after her Season 1 fashion show debacle (this chick had a fashion show, with no fashion! There were no clothes to be shown whatsoever...l0l.)

So here's She by Sheree at Fashion Week:

Seems like anybody could get a couple pieces together and make a fashion line these days. Not exactly NYC Fashion Week material to me...Oh well, at least she showed some clothes this time. "Who gon' check her, boo?" Lol.
And Dwight's Tool Box Collection:

Dwight actually showed out...like he always does!

This lingerie collection is s0o Dwight though. s0o OMG, over-the-top, irregular, bold, Dwight.

...More NYC Fashion Week later.

ÉLAN EXCLUSIVE

Élan is the newest craze to hit the Lagos scene. First time I saw it I just rubbed it off as another Thisday style wannabe but honestly I was pleasantly surprised by Élan.

Unlike Thisday style which is exclusively about clothes and fashion, Élan explores style from a broader angle.

The articles for me are the highlight. They are honest, insightful and real, they discuss things that are affecting the modern Nigerian woman. The links for 2 of my favorite articles are below:

The styling i have to say is impeccable, their stylist Tayo Shonekan (Aimas designs) does a very professional and elegant spread each week.

By the way you can find Élan inside every Sunday edition of 234next newspaper. For more details on where you can buy them check out their website.http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/ArtsandCulture/Elan/index.csp

I recommend ÉLAN as a part of your Sunday-Sunday tonic.

"OF WHICH ARE THEY EVEN PAYING ME FOR ALL THIS FREE PUBLICITY LOL!!!"

Have a FaB weekend guys. Ciao!
