Despite the "doom and gloom" feel of the current state of our country - security issues, political struggles, negative global reputation (419, "Yahoozee" etc), and the daily grumbling of the common Nigerian man - we still have much to be thankful for. No life-claiming natural disasters till date. No terrorist groups crashing into buildings or bomb threats. Besides, our country is growing in other ways - we are becoming better known for our fashion (everybody wears Ankara now, lol) and more fashion designers emerge from Naija by the day, our musicians/artists are doing really well in expanding their fan base to not just Nigeria, but other countries as well, and Nollywood is...well, its Nollywood!
And where there is life, there is hope...
So be thankful...and be festive today! Buy yourself a cupcake, splurge a little, celebrate your country's anniversary of independence one way or another! I know I will...
