FELA! ON BROADWAY

This should have been posted ages ago and I am totally sorry about the delay.

Fela is a provocative hybrid of dance and Broadway  features the Afrobeat music of Fela Anikulapo–Kuti, a book by Jim Lewis and the direction and choreography of Tony® Award winner Bill T. Jones.

According to the producer, The goal “Fela!” has set for itself is to be true to his music and his impact while reaching a Broadway musical audience.

It is, inevitably, a translation, but one governed more by respect and ambition than by show-business routine. “Fela!” juggles the conflicting demands in a celebrated career that has often pondered history, race and sexuality — and the commercial imperatives of Broadway, where theatergoers’ idea of African music might begin and end with “The Lion King.

It opened on Broadway at Gotham Hall on November 23, 2009 in New York City and was well attended by  celebrities, from Jay-Z,Alicia Keys,Will Smith, Susan Sarandon. Jay-Z is actaully one of the producers of the musical.

This musical has really given more light to the phenomenal and exceptional life and works of one of the greatest Nigerians ever lived. For more information about the musical check the  website out http://www.felaonbroadway.com/

Have a wonderful weekend guys and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!! in advance
